Jack me up
I really have to go and make some phonecalls to Sweden - who has just woken up, but I'll show you some more stuff tomorrow!
'til then!
Bits and bobs
The challenge was to scrap about "development". The funny thing is that the Swedish world for development also means to "fold out". That's why my LO is about Tova, and her first year, and under the envelope on the left side of the LO you can fold out pictures from every month of her first year (see second picture). I feel like this is difficult to explain for you non-swedish-people, I hope the photos can show you what I did... :)
I am very excited about my LO for challenge 3, I am VERY happy about how it came out! I can show you that one in a week... :)
In other scrapping news, I have been busy making christening invitations for my sister back home in Sweden. It's very time consuming, but so much fun! I have now run out of glue-dots, but as soon as I stock up on that I can finish them, and show you the end result.
I have also - for the first time - been scrapping someone elses photos! Wow, that was hard... I did it as a present for a friend of mine. They really loved it, and that made me very happy. Result below:
That's all for now, see you next time!!!! :)
It's been a while...
BUT - I have entered another cool competition, this time on a Swedish site; Scraputmaningen. After doing the competition over at SE I was really proud of myself. No - I didn't place anywhere, but just so proud of doing all the layouts, challenging myself, and for finishing! So, this new competition called "Utmaningsresan" is perfect, I can go on challenging myself, and I will have more LO's at the end of it! It goes on for ten weeks, so I'm happy! I'm not counting on placing anywhere in this comp either, but that's not the main thing.
As the gallery and the winner of the first challenge has been presented, I can show you my layout. The challenge was to create something around a "cut off" photo or equivalent. This is my take on it. I'm happy with the result!
Here in NZ, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so yesterday I joined the lovely Paper Pesto team on their Scrap Pink day. We had a lovely time! They had organised a LO class with Kelly Slattery - my LO below
(The LO isn't as orange as on the photo...)
Hannah Blair and Ilka Adams did make'n'take classes, and we made two cards with Ann McLachlan, my stuff below
The Paper Pesto teams were also very generous with giveaways, and this is what I came home with:
It was an awesome day - my first scrapping event!!! - and I would just like to say THANK YOU Paper Pesto ladies for doing this!
I'll sign off with a couple of Christmas cards, and a cool link; check this out.. It's a blog called Life of a Scrapper's Husband. Hilarious!!!
What's in a name
1. Players must list one fact, word, or tidbit that is somehow relevant to their life for each letter of their first or middle name.
2. When you are tagged you need to write your own post containing your first or middle name game facts, word, or tidbit.
3. At the end of your post choose one person for each letter of your name to tag.
4. Don't forget to leave a comment telling them that they have been tagged, and to read your blog.
5. If I've tagged YOU (see below), please join in on the fun!
A - is for artist. I love expressing myself in different ways, in different kind of art forms. Music/performing is my biggest one of course, but writing, photographing, painting, and my newest form scrapbooking is also very important to me. Take one of these things away from me, and I feel lost. I need to express myself in all these ways or I will fade away...
N - is for New Zealand, my new home. I've lived here for over 4 years now, and I love this country. No one can say I/we will live here forever, but if I/we do, I know I will be fine.
N - is for NO. A word I have to use a lot at the moment, to teach my daughter what she can and can't do or touch. I don't like saying no all the time, but that's just the way it is at the moment. I try to be nice about it, but she is really testing my patience. I would like this phase of hers to end now... (I know, I'm dreaming.)
E - is for emotional. I am very much so... Ask my husband... :) I cherish all of my feelings; happy, sad, angry, surprised, love, disgust, pain, I can go on but you get the picture. I just like to live life to the full!
L - is for lucky. I feel very lucky to be where I am in life today. There have been many mountains to climb, many punches to rise up from, and I am still standing. I am a wife, I am a mother, but most of all - I am alive. This is something I am thankful for every day.
I - is for internet. I soooo need to sit down by the computer every day. I need to keep in contact with my friends and family all over the world, I need to find inspiration for all that stuff mentioned under "A", I need to know what's going on in the world! If I can't for some reason, I get restless and grumpy...
E - is for exercise. I am trying sooooooo hard to loose weight. I go to the gym at least three times a week, and that's it's a big thing for me to do. I am so disappointed though, because after three months, there is still no visible change. I will continue though, exercise is good for me. I know it is...
So - since my name has SEVEN letters, I now have to tag SEVEN people. Gosh... So, I tag:
KATJA
LENA LANDIS
PETERLINA
MRS FRIZZ
NILLA
ANNA (non scrapping blog)
ANN
Ladies, hope you feel like doing this. If not - that's OK!
:)
Alright, now for my challenge #7 layout. I really loved doing this one. The challenge went like this:
Quote Me - Words form a huge part of our everyday lives so in this challenge we want you to create a layout that tells a story about a particular word that you use all the time, perhaps there is a quote or saying that you associate with someone you know, or maybe there is a quote that you try and incorporate into your life - page size is your choice, and just to make things a little more challenging - you must have your chosen word or quote as the title of your page!!!!
I actually did this one in Swedish! For you who don't know Swedish; in Sweden we have a saying: "kärt barn har många namn". :) This translates something like this; "a loved/cherished child has a lot of (nick) names". So on my layout I have presented all the nick names our girl Tova hears every day from her mum and dad!
("Tova" has by the way no exact meaning, but is from the viking time, so it's veeeeery old!:))
This is the last challenge in the competition. I'm gonna miss it! It was a lot of fun and very challenging to scrap outisde the box!
And then another LO for Tova's album, I'm almost at her ONE year party!!! :) This is a mix of Swedish and Kiwi-lingo - min cuz å ja' ! (My cousin and me)
'til next time! Thanks for stopping by!
Challenge #6
So, the challenge was this:
This weeks challenge is all about 'your technique'!!! Everyone has a favourite, mine is to use stamps on my creations - what yours???
It could be paper tearing, dry embossing, sanding, painting, using inks, there are so many!!!! So this weeks challenge is to create a single layout in any size of your choosing and use a technique - it has be to be clearly visible what the technique is and the DT are looking for originality, the use of the technique and how it fits the overall look of your page!!!
I found this VERY hard, as I feel like I have no technique at all. I just... do stuff! Anyhow, I remembered something I've seen on a blog a long time ago, about making a 3D effect on the photo, so I decided to try that. I printed the photo twice, and cut out a circle around the face, put it on 3D-cushions, and put a chipboard frame around it to enhance even more. I really like how the LO came together. All of the material is Scenic Route, and is from this months beautiful Paper Pesto kit.
The girl in the photo is my beautiful niece Jonna, and the journalling is about how it's a shame that Tova and her cousin live so far apart.
Now back to the snotty monster... Thanks for looking!!!
Just because
The first LO is about Tova playing so hard, almost falling asleep in the play pen. So cute...
On the next one, I was inspired by Janine, and I have used a few of Peterlina's beautiful clearstamps. The journalling is about how Tova loves to play "peek-a-boo", but sometimes I surprise her by saying "mum's darling" (mammas älskling). When I do, she laughs so hard she loses her breath!
Sorry 'bout the bad photo quality, don't know what happened there...
I have some cards to show you as well, but have lost my inspiration there somehow. It'll come back I guess!
Thanks for looking, and thanks for leaving a comment when you stop by!
Challenge #5
:)
The fact that I got the GORGEOUS monthly package from Paper Pesto i the mail box seem to have helped me find my mojo as well. I've got several ideas in my little blond Swedish brain at the moment! Let's just hope the tantrum throwing terror goes to bed early, so I can start my creating...
:)
The gallery for Challenge 5 is up on SE, so I can show you my LO. I am really happy with this one. I rarely do doubles, so that was fun. The challenge was this:
We want you to create a DOUBLE layout - size page is up to you but wait - there's more- after the dramas of yesterday with the site the theme of the layout is 'Challenges'!!! These could be everyday challenges you deal with, or perhaps a fear that you challenged head on - perhaps there was a time in your life when you faced a huge challenge which changed who you are - or maybe you are like me and some days are short on time to get things done!!!!
Journalling reads:
"For over 4 years now, I've been living my life without my closest friends and family. It's a big challenge! Especially when you have a child. I miss them all so much... "
Tadaaaaaaaaa!!!
:)
I've also recieved this little "award" from Lilo. THANK YOU!!!!
This means - first in Swedish:
att jag ska skicka ett kort till någon inom 7 dagar och även att jag ska utse ytterligare 5 personer.
in English:
I am supposed to send a card to someone within the next 7 days, and "award" another 5 people who then shall do the same!
:)
I know who I am sending the card to, but not telling - yet... I am challenging these 5 people:
Hannah - such an amazing scrapper. I'm sure she's awesome at making cards too!
Helena - an amazing cardmaker who also lives next door to my sister in Sweden!!!
Megan - she doesn't know it, but she's a big source of inspiration for my creations!
Peterlina - an awesome artist, nothing more needs to be said!
Fanny - another extraordinary talented lady!
So go on - make a card!!!
:)
I haven't got much to show you today, four cards only. My mojo is TOTALLY gone. Got turned down for the DT I applied for. Very expected, but still. Always hoping... I don't know if I'm weird, but I see scrapbooking as an art, and even though I do this for mine and my family's benefit, I still want people to like what I do, and when they don't I just get a little bit down. I know I'll get over it, but have to sulk another few days...
Have finished my LO for this weeks challenge over at SE though, actually liking this one! I can show it on Friday. 'til then!
Pay it forward
On a few NZ blogs at the moment, there is a thing called "Pay it forward" going on. It goes like this:
Here's the idea...I will send a gift (something handmade or something bought) to 3 random people who leave a comment on my blog!! The only thing you have to do in return is "pay it forward" by making the same promise on your blog. So, if you like this idea and a bit of 'happy mail', please leave a comment on my blog!!!
I have had the luck of being drawn from two blogs this week; Janine and Lynda.
And yes of course - it goes for you Swedish readers of my blog too! Happy mail can go anywhere in the world, right?! :)
So go on, leave a comment to this post!
The only new thing I can show you today is a door sign I have made for my daughter Tova's room. It's so cool to finally have a few rooms renovated, so I can start decorate them!
I have put the stuff on a canvas so it's easy to hang on the door. I found my inspiration in Carina's blog. (And "rum" is obviously "room" in Swedish... :))
Challenge #4
It's Wednesday. As per normal I got up and turned the computer on all excited to see all the layouts for last weeks challenge, and to see what the next one is. BIG dissapointment though, haven't been able to get into that site all day! "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". Disaster...
Anyway, I hope they fix it soon. It's 3.30pm now, and I WANNA SEE THE STUFF!!!
In the meantime, here's my LO for challenge #4. The rules were:
Black or white cardstock background; black and white photos - at least two, embellishment in ONE other colour allowed.
I'm not very happy with this LO, but I just have to move on...
A few detail shots, just click on the image to make them bigger:
Wonder what the next challenge will be....
As usual, I have done a few cards. Miscellaneous stuff, and some for a card swap over at Scrapbooking Essentials. I just have to say - boy cards are so HARD to make!!!!
TACK - THANK YOU for all your nice comments! It's nice to know someone visits me here...
:)
Change of language
So - welcome all kiwis and everyone else that hasn't understood my posts here before! I sure hope you swedes will stay as well... Luckily we Swedish people are very good at understanding and speaking English!
:)
My layouts have up 'til now mostly been in Swedish (I sure hope my daughter will speak both languages!). So far her few words are a bit of both, which is a good sign.
Although, now that I have taken part in the competition over at Scrapbook Essentials, I really enjoy making LO's in English as well! So I'm guessing that from now on, it will be a bit of both.
I have no new LO's to show today, I'm thinking hard about the 4th challenge over at Scrapbook Essentials, which wasn't as easy as I first thought...
Have made some new cards though, see bleow. Tonight I'm sitting down to make a few VERY simple cards, that my friends have asked for. Of course, I do as I am told...
:)
Thaks for reading this far, and thanks for stopping by "my little space on line"! Please leave a comment (click the "kommentarer" button) so I know you've been here, and I can then come and visit you!
Tavlingsbidrag #3
Svart - inga foton! Sa har lyder utmaningen:
That's right - no photos at all on your layout!!! Perhaps you want to write a letter to someone, journal an old family recipe, scrapbook the lyrics to your favourite song - this challenge is limitless in what you can choose to scrapbook and the results will be lots of fun!!!!
Size of your page is up to you and you can use either handwritten or computer printed journalling/text, entries must be uploaded to the folder in the gallery by midnight 21st August! The judges are looking for originality of journalling method used, how the page fits together with the journalling you write and lastly, how well you use words to fill a page!!
There are certain things in our everyday life which form a part of our routine, whether it be a cup of coffee first thing in the morning, to writing in a journal every day or perhaps it's talking to a certain person everyday - whatever your 'thing' is - we want you to create a page that tells the story about this part of your life. Page size is up to you but there must be a photo and journalling is also required - handwritten or computer is fine.
Tack for alla era snalla o uppmuntrande kommentarer. Det uppskattas verkligen!!!
DT bidragen klara
Hall tummarna om ni har nagra fria... :)
Kanner mig grymt proffsig plotsligt!!!!
Kramar fran Nya Zeeland!
'Create a minimum of 2 embellishments that MUST be used on your layout - ideas could included making your own chipboard accents, altering buttons, ribbons, using fabric to create flowers, altering glass slides, photo mounts, paper flowers - the list of possibilities is endless!!! We are looking for original embellishment ideas that fit your page theme - originality is the key to winning this challenge!!! No size restriction on the page size you complete ie 6x6, 12x12 etc '
Under fotot vit "mesh".
Tack for titten!!!!
And the winner is...
Bidrag #7
Vatten over huvet?!?!?!?
